CIMA Hospital Project Advances In Guanacaste

The CIMA hospital brand is constructing its new hospital that will be located in the Pacific Plaza, near the international airport that is outside Liberia, Guanacaste. This one of a kind facility will be less than an hour drive from the known beaches along the coast of North Pacific. The CIMA hospital project is worth $125 million and this will offer all the types of services that are now available in San Jose. This project will also include health and commercial complex that includes a residential community for the patients that need enough time to recover from the procedures and for those people who need a long term care. Restaurants, a heliport, shopping center, and most especially a building dedicated to all medical consultations are all included in the plans of the project. The new hospital is to offer modern state of the art medical facilities that are just minutes away from the beaches of Guanacaste.

The first phase of one of the Medical Tourism Projects is to construct a 2,000 square meter medical center, medical offices, a helipad, restaurants, and an extended stay hotel for the patient’s families and the doctors who will work there will entail an investment of $30 million. The construction of the first phase will be handled by the Proexsa developers. The second phase of the hospital project is to develop a 20,000 square meter plot of land that will include the enlargement of the medical center and of the construction of the areas for social services. The third phase of the project will develop a residential development and the fourth phase is to develop a retirement and assisted living communities.

Due to the location of the CIMA hospital project, near the international airport of Liberia and the beaches of Guanacaste, it is expected that the Guanacaste Hospitals will attract large amount of foreign patients and local residents too who will no longer have to travel to San Jose for a medical treatment. CIMA has gained a good reputation among the community living in Costa Rica who trusts them from the level of health care they have provided in their San Jose branch. The new hospital project will offer all the services that are in San Jose with of course a special attention for adults 55 and older.             

The region of Guanacaste is the perfect place for a hospital complex not only because the location is next to the international airport but because of the massive number of Americans who already retiring there for Medical Travel and other reason as well. Moreover, the decision to make this hospital complex comes at a time wherein the medical tourism is starting to catch on in Unites States where the costs of health care are expensive and unmanageable especially for those who are not insured. Just last year, almost 200,000 Americans traveled to Latin America for medical procedures that would be affordable compared to their country. It is expected that this number will rise to more than 600,000 medical tourists in Latin America.
